Frequently Asked Questions
No. Three Days is not a substitute for church. Participation in Three Days cannot replace active, contributing membership in your church. Three Days can only help awaken your need for Christ or strengthen your existing walk with Him. This awakening and strengthening takes on its full meaning when you strive to play a more active and committed role in your church community. Participants, with the help of the Holy Spirit, are expected to work to transform environments with the gospel of Christ.
Tres Dias is a weekend retreat for adults (21 and over) that focuses deeply on the person and teachings of Jesus Christ. While Tres Dias explores core Christian beliefs, it is best described as a spiritual encounter with Christ. Many who have attended the retreat have experienced a deeper and more meaningful relationship with Christ by feeling His love in a dynamic way.
Tres Dias usually begins on a Thursday afternoon and ends on Sunday evening. The Tres Dias team that leads the weekend is made up of people who have already attended Tres Dias (or a similar weekend retreat such as a Cursillo or Walk to Emmaus) and who have volunteered their time to prepare for weeks by working and praying together in unity. Tres Dias presents the basic concepts of the Christian life and the meaning of living the Christian ideal and its application in our daily lives. Tres Dias focuses on talks by laypeople and clergy. Each talk is discussed in small group discussions. The exchange that takes place in these discussions brings Christ's teachings to life. The basic atmosphere of Tres Dias is one of love, joy, Christian fellowship, singing, laughter, and worship. Tres Dias makes future Christian experiences more fruitful because of the rich flavor it brings to the entire Christian life. Tres Dias is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, therefore it is not a substitute for a retreat nor does it have the individual isolation of a retreat.
Tfes Dias is open to all adult Christians, men and women, married or single, regardless of denomination. Just as Christ meets you where you need Him, Tres Dias is designed for those who desire to strengthen their faith and draw closer to Christ. You must be at least 21 years old at the time of the weekend. Lay people and clergy are invited to join the community. Men and women attend separate weekends. If you are married, your husband must attend first. Wives typically attend a week later. Each participant must not have previously attended a Tres Dias, Emmaus, or Cursillo weekend and must be sponsored by someone who has.
Each participant must have a sponsor. A sponsor is defined as someone who has attended a Three-Day Weekend (or similar). This sponsor will help you prepare for the weekend. If you know someone at your church who has attended a Three-Day Weekend, ask them to tell you more about it and how to participate. You most likely came to this page at the suggestion of your sponsor. If you are interested in attending a Three-Day Weekend, ask your sponsor to complete the online application.
